Specialists in Libya
Simoon Travel are a London-based specialist tour operator, focused on providing trips to Libya. Their website needed to not just reflect Libya as a destination, but in many ways educate the viewer about this mostly unknown country. I would certainly urge anyone who is slightly taken aback by the idea of holidaying in Libya to look at the gallery pages; the country really does look like a fabulous place to explore.
Designing the Site
In order to convey as much of Libya as possible I decided to to give the site's 9 different sections generous and different heading images. These retain a similar palette throughout so that a cohesion exists despite having the main design element changing on most pages. These heading images fade and merge into the page much like the dunes they often depict.
Page elements such as the menu, headings and lists are all styled with elements of Islamic and Libyan art. In fact, several thousand years of Libyan culture inspired the designs, starting from ancient petroglyphs, through Roman art, to modern day Islamic art.
